Mr. Akinola is a distinguished leader with over 37 years of extensive experience across various sectors, including accounting, finance, auditing, IT management, business advisory, and investment management. He has held significant leadership positions within the oil and gas, finance, auditing, and pension sectors, both domestically and internationally.
Mr. Akinola served as the Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Closed Pension Fund Administrator from 2015 to 2023. He has also held the position of Vice President on two occasions for the Pension Fund Operators Association of Nigeria (PenOp), where he actively influenced the development of policies within Nigeria’s pension industry. His previous roles encompass key positions in Shell’s finance, auditing, and IT divisions throughout Africa and Asia, including Vice President/Head of Audit for Africa, General Manager of Information Management & IT for Nigeria/Gabon, and Finance Projects Manager for Shell Upstream Africa.
Mr. Akinola is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), a Member of the Institute of Directors (IoD), and he holds a First-Class Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Ife. He has also completed executive programs at Wharton, IMD Business School, and the Amsterdam Institute of Finance. His areas of expertise include board governance, pension and asset management, audit and risk oversight, financial strategy, and IT-driven business transformation.
