The PenCare Initiative is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative funded jointly by the National Pension Commission (PenCom) and Pension Fund Operators (PFOs) with the sole aim of providing basic primary healthcare support to retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) free of charge.
PenCare is a healthcare support programme introduced by the National Pension Commission (PenCom) in partnership with Pension Fund Operators (PFOs) to help eligible retirees under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) access basic primary healthcare services free of charge. The initiative represents a significant step towards a pension system that not only secures workers’ financial future but also safeguards their health and dignity in retirement.
Participation in PenCare is voluntary. Eligible retirees (retirees aged 65 years old and above earning below ₦40,000) who choose to take part will be enrolled by an approved Health Management Organization (HMO) and thereafter gain access to healthcare services under the programme.
